3 Tips for Dealing with Belittling & Condescending People

❤ SUBSCRIBE ❤ https://goo.gl/fgc7D7 – If someone is belittling and condescending toward you, here are 3 tips to help you deal with it so you can close the door on the event and move on with your day/week/life.

1. SET them straight – it’s okay to speak up, even if it’s likely to fall on ears that are unwilling to hear. Just the choice to say what is true for you is healing in itself, being able to stand up for yourself. Caution: this is best done in a calm and concise way. If we pour our emotional pain back at the person, it’s highly likely they will react back even worse and we end up further hurt or enraged. So remember K.I.S.S – keep it short and simple.

2. SET boundaries – protect your mental, emotional and physical self and space by having appropriate boundaries where it’s possible to set them. This can mean reducing exposure to the person or removing yourself from them entirely (temporarily or permanently).

3. SET your mindset back on track – long after the interaction, the upsetting effects can linger if you continue to focus on them and what they said, and how wrong it was and what you wish you had said/done in that moment, replaying it over and over. It’s so important to preserve your energy for yourself, and your important life and path, and not to leak your energy back toward them by focusing on it longer than necessary. By all means review the situation, communicate, do emotional processing (e.g EFT/Tapping) and then remember… “they do not warrant/deserve any more of my focus now… it will take me off track and off purpose if they consume my mind, so it’s time to remember what is important to me and get busy focusing on all the good things and good people in my life, and making amazing inspiring plans for my own day/week/life.”
